Main Info

Who doesn’t enjoy a little friendly competition in the comfort of their own backyard? With The Cowboy Olympics—Team Edition, we’re taking those classic backyard vibes and turning them into a high-energy, structured team-building experience.

In this event, teams are tasked with not only competing in cowboy-inspired games but also working together to design and build their own backyard game. Along the way, they’ll navigate workplace-inspired challenges—budgets, quotas, deadlines, and creative brainstorming sessions—that mirror real-world dynamics. The goal? Earn points through both game play and game design, and secure your place in the Backyard Game Hall of Fame!

Structured Event Flow:

  1. Welcome & Kickoff

  • Teams are assigned or self-selected, with captains chosen.
  • Each team receives starter kits with building materials, instructions, and a small “budget” to manage.

  • Early points are awarded, and energy builds for the competition ahead.
  1. Team Game Building
  • Teams brainstorm, sketch, and construct their own original backyard game using the materials provided.
  • Creative constraints such as time limits, “budget deductions,” or bonus challenges (e.g., must include a cowboy hat prop) keep the process lively.
  • Judges and facilitators circulate, offering support while tracking teamwork, creativity, and resource use.
  1. Cowboy Classics Competition
  • While building is underway or once games are complete, teams rotate through pre-set cowboy-inspired games, such as:

  • Teams earn points at each station, adding to their overall score.
  1. Game Showcase & Playoffs
  • Each team presents their original game to the group and demonstrates the rules.
  • Teams then compete head-to-head by playing each other’s creations.
  • Judges and peers score games on creativity, challenge level, and fun factor.
  1. Finale & Awards
  • Scores from building, classics, and showcase rounds are tallied.
  • Winning teams are recognized in categories like:

–Most Creative Game

  • The event closes with a high-energy group activity (e.g., a mega relay or singalong) to celebrate everyone’s efforts.
