SUMMIT: Leadership Edition is an immersive leadership and management development experience that mirrors the realities of guiding teams through uncertainty, change, and high-stakes decision-making. Framed as a high-altitude expedition, leaders must establish vision, delegate effectively, and adapt communication styles to ensure team survival. With intentional constraints—limited resources, blindfolded and silent team members, and looming deadlines—participants experience firsthand how leadership behaviors directly impact outcomes. The result is a powerful, memorable lesson in alignment, resilience, and trust.

Event Flow

  1. Leadership Framing & Expedition Brief
  • Participants are introduced to the SUMMIT scenario through a leadership lens
  • Facilitator connects the expedition to organizational realities:
    • Navigating change and ambiguity
    • Leading through constraints
    • Achieving stretch goals
      • Teams are reminded that success depends on leadership clarity, not individual heroics
  1. Role Assignment & Leadership Structure
  • Teams elect an Expedition Leader responsible for vision, coordination, and decision-making
  • Additional roles reflect organizational functions:
    • Project Manager (execution and timeline)
    • Architects (design and planning)
    • Construction Crew (implementation)
    • Artistic Director (branding and morale)
      • Two team members are blindfolded (limited visibility) and two are silent (restricted voice), simulating:
    • Information gaps
    • Remote or underrepresented team members
    • Communication barriers leaders must navigate
  1. Strategy, Practice & Delegation
  • Teams receive 5–10 minutes to plan, practice communication methods, and assign responsibilities
  • Leaders must determine:
  • How to include constrained team members
  • How much direction vs. autonomy to give
  • How to ensure shared understanding under pressure
  1. Basecamp Build Under Pressure
  • Teams have 45–60 minutes to construct a structurally sound, marketable basecamp using limited materials
  • Leaders are tested on:
    • Adapting communication styles
    • Managing time and conflict
    • Maintaining morale as pressure increases
      • Optional: Teams earn materials via BridgeTheApp, reinforcing prioritization and decision-making
  1. The Storm: Stress Test & Accountability
  • Teams place two members inside their shelters
  • Facilitator simulates the approaching storm using high-powered fans
  • Structures are tested publicly, reinforcing accountability for leadership decisions
  1. Reveal, Results & Leadership Debrief
  • Teams observe which basecamps withstand the storm and why
  • Facilitator leads a structured reflection:
    • Where leadership clarity succeeded or failed
    • How constraints affected performance
    • What communication strategies proved effective
      • Participants connect lessons to real leadership scenarios
